Candle Care

For your safety and enjoyment, please ensure that you are following these important tips for your candle:

  • Trim your wick ⅛ inch to ¼ inch before each and every burn. This ensures that your flame does not smoke, flicker too much or rise too high.
  • Your first burn needs at least 2-3 hours to achieve a full melt pool.  A full melt pool prevents tunneling, which is excess wax build-up on the sides of your vessel.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never burn your candle near anything that can catch fire.
  • Be sure that you place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Lids can be used as a candle coaster to protect your surfaces from heat damage.
  • Keep lit candles away from any drafts.
  • Never touch or move a burning candle when the wax is liquid.
  • If you notice that the flame is too high, or the wick is starting to mushroom, extinguish the flame. Wait for the candle to cool, trim the wick, and re-light your candle.
  • Burn your candle for only 3 – 4 hours at a time and discard when there is less than ½ inch of wax left in the bottom of the vessel. Never burn your candle all the way down. If the last ½ inch of wax gets too hot, it could ignite.
  • Place burning candles at least 4 inches apart from one another.
  • Never use water to extinguish your candle.
  • Remember a burning candle is fire! Neither the seller nor the manufacturer is responsible for any misuse.

NOTE: If you notice black soot on the side of your jar, you may be burning the candle too long or not properly maintaining the wick. When the candle has cooled, take a warm damp cloth and wipe out the black soot to give your jar a clean look. Trim the wick before you burn again and follow the candle burning instructions on the bottom of each candle jar and the candle care card included in your order.
